Dr. Jordan J. Balvich is the glue that brings this magnificent dental team together for you and has been practicing general dentistry in Rensselaer for over 23 years.
As a dentists - and a medical practitioner in general - Dr. Balvich receives a great deal of questions. More often than not, he gets a lot of questions regarding the initials after his name, so allow us to explain. DMD stands for "Doctor of Dental Medicine" - he trained for this degree alongside medical students. FAGD stands for "Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry" - only 1% of dentists obtain this standing. DAAOS is an abbreviation for "Diplomat in the Academy of the American Orthodontic Society" - less than 2% of its membership obtains this level of understanding in orthodontics. It's clear that Dr. J loves excelling at what he does, and this can be seen in him being selected as one of the Nation's Top Dentists by the Consumer Research Council of America for the past seven consecutive years.
Dr. J grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. He went on to graduate from Saint Joseph's College of Rensselaer before receiving his dental training from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL. In 1992, he returned to Rensselaer as a practicing dentist and has remained a staple of the community for over two decades. He has been married Beth Neal of Monticello for 30 years and they have four children: Joshua, a student at Anderson College; Parker, a student at Saint Joseph's College; Graham, a student at Rensselaer Central High School; and Ella, a 5th Grader at St. Augustine Catholic School.
Dr. J served as President of the American Orthodontic Society and he serves as co-editor of the Journal of the American Orthodontic Society. He has also acted as a liaison for the Academy of General Dentistry in Washington, DC with Indiana Congressmen for patient rights and is an assistant instructor for the American Orthodontic Society, where he teaches other general and pediatric dentists in orthodontics. He is a past board member and president of the local CDC and he has been an avid supporter of local youth activities and sports since his children were very small.
Somehow, Dr. J finds time for everyone, including his children. In his free time, he enjoys attending his children's many sporting events, working on his basement, and studying for his private pilot's license.
